12 days · Bike + support vehicle · Coastal Sri Lanka
Ayu-bowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka. Your coastal adventure begins in Negombo, close to the airport. Rest, stretch your legs along the lagoon, and if you arrive early, enjoy the seaside atmosphere and fresh seafood.
Test ride past the fish market, then cycle scenic stretches toward Chilaw. A support-vehicle transfer covers the long Wilpattu fringe before you rejoin the bikes on Mannar Island — salt pans, wild donkeys and palm landscapes.
Cycle open coastal stretches with the van linking longer gaps into the Jaffna peninsula — palm lanes, lagoon light, temples and Tamil cuisine.
Ride to the island’s northernmost tip at Point Pedro, then through fishing hamlets and lagoons toward Mullaitivu on the quiet northeast coast.
South across lagoons (including the Kokkilai ferry when open) to Nilaveli — pale sand, clear water and the Pigeon Island reef just offshore.
East-coast ribbon riding: Koneswaram’s headland, Kinniya Bridge and fishing villages, finishing on Passikudah’s shallow turquoise bay.
Recovery on the east coast — optional easy lagoon spin, kayaking or pure beach time. Support stays on hand for a short cultural loop toward Batticaloa if you want it.
South through Kalmunai and Pottuvil into Arugam Bay — palm shade, surf culture and a looser beach rhythm after the long coastal days.
Leave the bay and cut inland through dry-zone scrub and paddy toward Tissamaharama — gateway to Yala and the southern parks.
Optional early park safari by jeep, then a mix of south-coast cycling and van support into Mirissa’s coconut-hill shoreline.
One of the purest ride days: classic south-coast miles past Weligama into Galle Fort, with the support vehicle always nearby.
Supported transfer toward Colombo and the airport. Twelve days around the pearl — west, north, east and south, closed at the fort.
Twelve days by bike and support vehicle.
The best coastal riding — without 800 km+ all in the saddle.
