A fully supported coastal circuit by bike and vehicle — Negombo’s lagoon, Mannar’s causeway, Jaffna, Nilaveli, Passikudah, Arugam Bay and the south coast to Galle. You ride the best stretches; the support van covers long or restricted sections so the full loop stays enjoyable, not an 800 km+ all-saddle epic.

Follow the line down — each pin is a day, each stop is where you'll sleep.
Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka. Your coastal adventure begins in Negombo, minutes from Bandaranaike International Airport. After meeting your guide, settle in by the lagoon — rest, stretch your legs along the beach, and if you arrive early, wander the Dutch canal and fish market for a first taste of island life.

A short test ride past the fish market and fishing villages, then north along the Dutch canal toward Chilaw. After a supported vehicle transfer past the Wilpattu forest fringe (too long and restricted to cycle end-to-end), you rejoin the bikes onto Mannar Island — salt pans, wild donkeys, palm scrub and open sea horizons. Typical day: cycle the best stretches, van for the rest.

Flat roads and a steady sea breeze as you leave Mannar toward the Jaffna peninsula — cycling on open coastal stretches with the support vehicle linking the longer gaps. Palm-lined lanes, lagoon light and a change in culture mark the far north. Afternoon free to stroll the fort walls or Nallur’s temple streets.

Cycle out toward Point Pedro, the island’s northernmost tip, then swing east through fishing hamlets and lagoons. Longer inland or less scenic segments are covered by the support vehicle so the day stays focused on the best coastal riding into Mullaitivu — big skies, working boats and coconut groves.

South along lagoons and rural lanes (including a short ferry at Kokkilai when conditions allow), mixed with vehicle support on longer connector roads. Nilaveli greets you with pale sand and clear water — one of Sri Lanka’s finest east-coast beaches. Evening at leisure; optional boat trip toward Pigeon Island when permits allow.

Continue the east-coast ribbon by bike where roads are scenic — Trincomalee’s headland, Kinniya Bridge views and fishing villages — with the van covering busier or less rewarding stretches. Arrive at Passikudah’s shallow turquoise bay for calm lagoon swimming and a softer pace.

A recovery day on the east coast. Optional easy spin along the lagoon edge, kayaking, or simply beach time and fresh seafood. Support vehicle and guide stay available if you want a short cultural loop into nearby Batticaloa’s lagoon shores and colonial-era streets.

South toward Arugam Bay with a mix of cycling and vehicle support — pedal palm-lined coastal roads and village approaches; transfer through longer urban or highway sections. Evening free in this classic surf and lagoon town to walk the point or watch the sunset.

Leave the bay and cut inland toward the dry-zone south. This is a classic bike-and-van day: cycle scenic rural stretches; use the support vehicle for the longer inland connectors. Overnight in Tissamaharama (Tissa), base for the southern parks and the hinge to the south coast.

Optional early game drive in Yala or Bundala (by jeep/vehicle). Then west along the south coast — cycle Tangalle’s palm-fringed stretches where roads allow; transfer past park buffers and busier coastal highway. Finish in Mirissa for whale-watching harbour vibes, coconut hill views and warm evening sea air.

One of the purest riding days on the tour: a classic south-coast spin past Weligama’s stilt-fishermen viewpoints, coconut estates and village markets into Galle Fort (support vehicle always nearby). Afternoon on the ramparts and Dutch-era streets of this UNESCO-listed fort town.

After breakfast, supported vehicle transfer toward Colombo and Bandaranaike International Airport. You’ve completed a full coastal circuit by bike and van — the memorable rides without grinding every kilometre of the island’s perimeter in the saddle.
